My week:

Sunday: procrastinating while studying for the bio exam. I took apart my light rack, wiped all surfaces with fairly strong bleach, changed the fluorescent bulbs out, sterilized soil and trays, washed the covering blanket and resigned myself to the fact that the ballasts are still being bitchy when I turn them on. Sorted seed packs. Late at night, had a total emotional breakdown and ended up at [livejournal.com profile] emmett_the_sane's house across the bay in the wee smalls. Slept there.

Monday: Woke up somewhat restored but still very shaky. Had some good recoup and snuggle time. Went home in time for dinner. Slept early.

Tuesday: Got up for bio lab, feeling extremely anxious and scared of people. Determined that no, whatever the study guide might make it look like, the bio exam was not open book, open notes. Left early again (second time in a row) because my nerves were shattered from the weekend. Vowed to look at slides of sponges later. Tried to study for the bio exam, couldn't reassemble my nerves, ended up sick and faint from stress. Didn't even bother with chem homework.

Wednesday: Skipped bio because I so desperately needed the sleep. Went to chem late. Spent the full time at the Delta Diablo lab getting familiar with the place, found as I was going home that simply doing chemistry had restored my mental equilibrium (how many people can say that?). Felt competent and stable enough to study for the bio exam. Finished off the night feeling like I might not die if I attempted the test.

Thursday: Got myself together, walked into lab ready to do battle. Figured out after about fifteen minutes that one of the teachers had changed the test date to 3/1. Stuck around for the lab lecture, then took off early for the third time in a row (so much for mollusca) because I was so furious I couldn't see straight. Spent an hour driving to calm down. Came home and vegged, then finally picked up a bit of chem and poked at it until I was too tired to think.

Friday: Slept poorly, went to class with the sole intention of surviving the day. Seethed through bio lecture. Chatted with [livejournal.com profile] emmett_the_sane during my lunch break. Was feeling a bit fragile, but like I might manage, until I walked into chem and realized I was running a fever from an incipient Chronic Fatigue crash. Finished my knitting in chem while absently answering Mitch's questions about concentrations at various levels of titration -- trying not to make stupid mistakes like answering in pH rather than pOH (d'oh!). Decided to try the wetlands for lab, planted bunchgrasses for an hour and a half (on my knees) before pleading to Mitch that I really needed to go home. Missed two on-ramps for highway 4, coaxed Gwen home on fumes, got gas, got home... then asked the Weasel whether he could accompany me to Fry's to look for wire. We did that without me getting toxed (VOC respirator 1, Formula 409 0). Got called by [livejournal.com profile] emmett_the_sane (my poor cell-phone plan!) who was wired after a meeting and wanted to hang out. Packed my bag and sped out across the bay to spend the night. Had more emotionally intense stuff happen when we were both totally exhausted, played with optical lenses and fiber and lasers and wire, then went to bed. And yes, most of that time was spent honest-to-goodness sleeping... we couldn't stay awake if we tried.

Saturday: Woke up around 11:30 with an appointment in Oakland at 14:30. Any bets as to whether I'd make that? (Didn't think so.) Canceled the appointment after crossing the Bay Bridge already fifteen minutes late. A few seconds after hanging up the phone, my left front tire went flat. I pulled to the shoulder -- ten feet before the shoulder vanished -- and laughed until I cried. Sigh. Called AAA, who said that it might be Caltrans territory, but... wait, they could send a truck to change my tire, which I needed since I had backed onto a wide gravel swath beside the freeway and didn't feel comfortable changing a tire on a gravelled slope (let it be someone else's fault if the car skids off the jack and ends up down the hillside). Was talking with [livejournal.com profile] eyeofcanaan on the phone about later plans when a guy in a hard hat arrived in a big Caltrans truck. Got the tire changed, told the tow truck operator who showed up halfway through that I was fine (I guess it wasn't AAA who had called Caltrans?) and that this was still technically the toll plaza anyway, so it was Caltrans territory. Pulled off the shoulder on my little donut and limped home at 45 mph until I could do surface streets, and thus completed the "West Oakland to Concord on a half-size spare" competition. Tried to recoup, made plans to go to San Remote so [livejournal.com profile] eyeofcanaan and I could do girlie stuff for the evening, ultimately had the Weasel protest that I didn't need to take BART to Dublin because he would drive me to San Ramon. Wonderful of him. The redhead and I made ourselves pretty, tore out to Oakland, changed her into a fantastic sequined dress with a bustle, and danced. I may recoup Gaskell's in a separate post, but in summary I had a wonderful time. Ended up at afters at Denny's (ugh, it was all that was open in Concord at 2) with [livejournal.com profile] eyeofcanaan and [livejournal.com profile] phantomdancer, and went home utterly exhausted but still glowing.

Today I have to replace that tire and go to my bodyworker (who has just started a sex change, so now I need to meet Dr. James). Sigh. And study, probably, if I can get myself together -- otherwise I'll just start seeds and fight with the ballasts in the light rack.

I don't want another week like that. Can I buy some boredom? Just a little? Please?

I'm in for a little boredom today, I've decided. The most fun I'm going to have is buying contacts and, possibly, lumber. And maybe spice racks for the kitchen.

*hugs*
