So I got through the first five Kaldor City stories, and my first thought upon coming to the end of the fifth one:
*blink* W T F was that?
I had heard I shouldn't expect much of an ending -- but that was way more cryptic than even Blake's 7, and that takes doing. What is it aboutAvon Kaston Iago that attracts this sort of non-ending?
I started the series as a lark, expecting fluffy over-the-top entertainment. About halfway through the third one the whole thing grew the beard, and suddenly I needed a relational database to keep score. And the writing! God, it had me alternately in stitches and in awe. I am going to need to listen through the whole thing again, front to back, to make sure I have everything straight, but with the way it's written that's no hardship. I should probably go watch "The Robots of Doom" at some point, too, as I don't really remember it.
I'm partway through "Storm Mine", which strikes me as the "Afterlife" of KC. Don't get me wrong, I liked "Afterlife", but that had a WTF ending too. (What is it about that character that makes writers drop acid?)
Thank you,
britgeekgrrl, for setting me on this series, and I look forward to reading your "Revenge". :)
