The number one threat to the internet: the backhoe.

Somewhere in the top ten is "overzealous, yet competent, engineers who refer to the wrong database".

Foogod.com (and the house) will be offline until Friday, if we are lucky. If we are not, we should have net by sometime Monday or Tuesday. I don't know whether mail will end up bouncing; use my Gmail account (torquill) if you want to reach me. I'll be catching access here and there, as I can.

Nature tip: If you're going hiking in the woods, take a length of fiber-optic cable with you. If you get lost, simply bury the cable and wait for a backhoe to dig it up. Then follow the backhoe back into town.
