up.
I collected three job applications, a couple of suggestions to hit websites instead, and a piece of excellent almond toffee today. I finally sent off my resume, skill list, and "goals as an intern" to the only job nibble I've had so far. I also finished off my Master Gardener certification hours and turned in the last timesheet of the current year, trimmed an apricot tree whose laden branches snapped after yesterday's rain, and gave some TLC to the poor miniature rose entrusted to my care.
Thoughts:
If I can stay as cheerful and relaxed during the rest of the job hunt as I was today, this will be a snap.
It's amazing how many options open up when you relax your standards. (I currently have 12 places to apply to, and I'm thinking of more.)
I still have some unexpected raw spots. I ran into them several times today, but I'm still in a pretty good mood.
I need more sleep, and a chance for my muscles to recover from all the physical work I did the other day. On the other hand, it feels good to get out there and dig, even if the chronic fatigue makes me tire quickly.
And god damn, Michael Douglas can purr when he wants to. I never really saw the appeal (though he was quite a good actor in The American President) but at a couple of times in The Game I found myself having a Kiefer Sutherland/Alan Rickman moment. I'll close my eyes and you can do anything you want, just keep talking...
About the raw spots -- nothing that it would help to talk about, really. Conversely, I may ask you to change the subject if something is a little too painful. Smile, nod, and please don't ask. :)
I'm sleepy now. I think I'll curl up in bed and try to get some rest before the Baycon meeting tomorrow.
