Getting it done
Oct. 21st, 2020 19:54Today was productive. In addition to having a good call with my therapist, I:
- Took Jenny to the post office so she could mail the first four Christmas boxes
- Took her to the flea market for routine stuff
- Visited the local gun dealer to ask whether they had a cleaning kit for a .22 rifle (no)
- Checked out another gun dealer which was simply at a residence in a very scenic area (nobody home)
- Raked the leaves off of the driveway and bridge
- Hauled the new UPS upstairs (oof)
- Harvested a quart of Aronia berries
- Took the extra chicken feed to the Shippen and put it away
- Planted the orphan teasels and foxgloves in front of the picture window
- Helped Jenny tarp the squash and tomatoes (frost tonight)
- Bundled up the moss rose for winter in hay and a potting-mix bag
Plus the usual rounds of feeding myself and various animals. We got three eggs today for the first time; I had suspected that one of the eggs yesterday, which was small and darker brown, was from one of the young hens, but until both of the older ones laid as well we couldn't be completely sure.
I'm halfway done with fencing the extended enclosure for the chickens. I feel like I'm getting a grip on all of the final little things I need to do; the garage is half-cleared, so all I need is a little more work to be able to organize and pack the car even in bad weather. Tomorrow and Friday have fire weather and red flag warnings in the Bay Area, so I'm waiting until early next week, but I admit I'm grateful for the extra few days. Even if I do have to do a little laundry to carry me over.
