This was stolen from [livejournal.com profile] kuritzky, albeit more than a year later. It seems better than a lot of those "tell me about yourself" memes. And a lot more fun than the dull "boxers or briefs" 20-questions.

The meme:
1. Copy this whole list into your journal.
2. Bold the things that you have in common with me.
3. Whatever you don't bold, replace with things about you
4. Post your list in your own, so others can compare.
5. Comment to me that you've done so.

01. I have learned to dress properly for winter in the Bay Area, though I'd probably freeze solid in Rochester.
02. I can often get back to sleep once I wake up, so long as I don't start thinking about things that need doing.
03. I like to play in the rain, so long as it's relatively warm. Haven't gotten a chance to lately, though...
04. I have never owned a house.
05. I can make minor sewing repairs, and occasionally I sew larger things.
06. It should never be below 21 degrees. F. It is acceptable that the weather be below 15 deg. C, but never, never in my living quarters.
07. I am quite attentive about the general rules of capitalization and sentence structures in my online communications. My spelling problems are accidental and relatively rare.
08. My first computer was a Toshiba Satellite 486/33. The first I personally owned, that is.
09. I hope this next year is much less sucky than the last.
10. I game almost as often as I want to.
11. I'm not too bad with online correspondence.
12. I feel like I've slid backward last year in becoming the person I want to be, but I'll be trying to correct that this year.
13. I remember odd details about people I know, but I seem to be fairly good at keeping track of the important things.
14. There are things I wish I could remember, but can't. And vice versa.
15. My life seems to have more of a foundation in listening to music than I tend to realize.
16. I have a habit of leaving out the leading pronoun or creating sentence fragments when chatting online, and it irritates me even as I do it.
17. I have never had the opportunity to really hold a job.
18. I have a lot to learn.
19. I am more talkative than I probably ought to be.
20. I'm a little too zealous about challenging myself to live up to my potential. I've been teaching myself to ease my standards for several years now.
21. I need to get better health insurance.
22. I panic when people yell, even if it's not at me. The only time in memory I haven't raised my voice simply to make it carry a distance was when I was tired and hungry, lost my temper, and yelled at a particularly stupid driver.
23. I do have plans for my future. I always have plans, even though life keeps knocking them down.
24. I feel lucky to have met most of the people I know.
25. I have a smaller CD collection than I would like, but listen to only a few of them all the time.
26. I am not even an occasional drinker, though that is due to an inability rather than a choice.
27. Kissing is not one of my favorite pasttimes.
28. I'm an odd person.
29. Despite being so talkative, I am good at keeping confidences. That appears to be a good thing, as so many people give them to me.
30. I pretty much look like me no matter how I'm dressed, which is in whatever happens to be clean and comfortable.
31. It would be nice if I were in better shape, but it doesn't bother me much.
32. I don't hold grudges, but with anything other than small slights I tend to forgive and not forget... each time someone betrays or disappoints my trust, they lose a bit of it. A few people have lost all my trust, and even my respect.
33. I procrastinate a little, but it is often time-limited and intensive so that I get it out of my system. Given that when I procrastinate it is often a sign of ill health, I don't consider it a personal fault much of the time.
34. I haven't been able to fall asleep in cars and planes since I was a toddler.
35. I enjoy solving other people's interpersonal problems... and sometimes even my own.
36. There is such a thing as human nature. Some of us manage to do better than that.
37. I used to be a depressive and pessimistic person; I went through a personality shift and became an optimist who is usually cheerful. I'm slowly getting used to that.
38. I enjoy being the center of attention a little too much.
39. I don't like pain, even recreationally... I have enough of that already.
40. Sometimes sleeping next to me is like sleeping next to a nuclear furnace, though when I'm not running especially warm it's only like sleeping next to an oven.
41. I do enjoy the gifting process, both giving and receiving.
42. I want to be needed.
43. I am not affected by caffeine.
44. I am a better friend than I used to be.
45. I am not entirely sure how I should feel about the fact that I like myself better now than I ever did before, given what it took to get here.
46. I am much less creative than I wish to be.
47. I am not now, nor have I ever been trendy. This is partially due to conscious effort.
48. I'm becoming less concerned with other's opinions of me. It's taking longer than I would like to build up my self-confidence and stop craving approval.
49. I use instant messaging systems less than I probably should, given that they are set up for me and waiting most of the time.
50. I like having a small sense of ritual in my life.
51. I'm not good with silences, unless I am touching the person I'm with. I tend to fill them with nervous chatter.
52. I have reasonably ok relations with a few of my exes, and the rest of them I don't miss.
53. Too many of my friends have drifted away recently, and I don't know what to do to get them back.
54. I would like to be living on a budget, as that would be less uncertain than what I have now. That requires reasonably steady income, unfortunately.
55. I have no interest in hallucinogenic drugs.
56. I have bought two new (to me) cds in the past 60 days. I was gifted with two more.
57. I am very good at passing for normal, though anyone who knows me knows I'm a geek.
58. I love most of my current relationships.
59. I prefer email to phone calls under most circumstances. I will still spend long periods of time on the phone if a call is made (see item 19).
60. I have difficulty walking the line between allowing people to lean on me for support, and letting them use me as a crutch.
61. I admire performers.
62. I am sometimes guilty of thinking of people in fewer dimensions then might be necessary to do them justice.
63. I like many kinds of music.
64. I would miss having a sense of humor more than anything else.
65. I am good friends with my mom, but my dad drives me nuts too often.
66. I wish I could travel to see a few places, just for fun.
67. I don't mind having my picture taken.
68. I have always had a love of learning.
69. I like digital watches and clocks, but only the smart ones.
70. I feel really insignificant and useless when I work really hard on something, and then everyone doesn't care, or doesn't like it.
71. I would like to have more time to write stories.
72. I often feel alone in a crowded room. But not always.
73. I love getting massages. (Who doesn't?)
74. I like the holiday season, but for different reasons than most people mention.
75. I love having my own car. I love this car in particular, in fact.
76. I wouldn't know what to do with a reasonably close-knit community living right around me within shouting distance.
77. I hate being late, but that doesn't stop me.
78. I like a wide palette of colors. I have a particular fondness for rich blues/greens/purples.
79. Glitter is a social disease, passed by casual contact - handshakes, hugs and toilet seats.
80. I wish I could get myself to practice music more (at all). I sing in the car, and I have hopes of joining a symphony again at Davis, when I can afford the academic credits.
81. I think my lifestyle is reasonably sane.
82. I am learning to dance better, and enjoying it far more than I thought I would.
83. I own too many things, and don't have a place of my own to put them.
84. I have become resigned to the fact that I am a dabbler, and rarely finish any project without putting it aside at least once.
85. On some issues, I'm very firm in my beliefs.
86. I have never been informed that I can't sing.
87. I don't understand why anyone in their right mind would oppose gay marriage, and I cannot empathize with or approve of the reasons they use to support their position. Some of the arguments are ones I would find laughable, if they weren't so dangerous.
88. I take too many things for granted.
89. My bed is pretty comfortable, but I need to find a way to wash the king-size comforters more often.
90. I often spend too much time doing online stuff, or other computer-based timewasters.
91. I would probably be better off being more blunt than I am. The ocean could stand to be a little more moist, too.
92. I love road trips, but I hate being short of money when I do them.
93. My vocabulary is larger than any person's has a right to be; when I fish for a word, I get the large ones more often than not.
94. My emotions seem to be stronger than those of most people. I dislike this, perhaps more than most of my friends realize. There is also little I can do about it sometimes.
95. I rarely use a thesaurus.
96. I never got drunk with any of my high-school peers. Given my social standing in high school, even were I interested in drinking, I'd rather do so with total strangers than that lot.
97. I can manage to be a Devil's Advocate about anything that I deeply believe in. This doesn't mean I always feel a need to, nor that I feel the argument makes sense, but if the other side is requested or needed I can usually pull at least one counter-argument even if it directly contradicts my strong belief.
98. I am bitter too often.
99. Science Fiction and Fantasy are my favorite genres.
100. I appreciate movies as a form of entertainment.
101. My background is Polish, German, and Scots.
102. I'm not fond of the smell of incense usually, but I don't dislike it, so long as it doesn't trigger a sensitivity.
103. I like staying up late and sleeping well into the day. More that I should.
104. I am fond of winter. I enjoy the heat of summer more than many people (I soak it up like a lizard).
105. I should go swimming more often. I lost a lot of my taste for it, though.
106. I don't know where I got my taste for casual physical contact from.
107. I am good friends with my brother.

(P.S.: For future reference, LJ seems to recognize the strong tag, but not the older bold tag. Odd, irritating, and nonsensical.)
