I'm way behind in reading my friends list... thought you should know.

Anyway, I'm in need of a dentist. I'm starting with a pretty blank slate here, so I will tell you what I'm looking for:

- East Bay, preferably central-ish.
- Offices more than a year old
- Friendly and accommodating office staff
- Dentist who is able to work without anesthetic if requested

My old dentist failed the last point dismally; he started squirming, which means I would squirm too, even when it didn't hurt. The guy he bought the practice from couldn't be shaken by a herd of elephants coming through.

One of my molars is becoming more sensitive, to the point I figure I should do something about it... if you have a dentist you think would fit most or all of these, please let me know.

You might see if Lyn Oakleaf is still practicing in Concord. He was my dentist when I was a kid/teen. My mom swears by him.

He seems pretty good. We had a nice chat about your family, insurance, dentistry, and sex changes. The office is so close I could walk there. I think I'll call him up for an appointment once I figure out the latest changes to my distressingly unpredictable class schedule. :)

That figures. :) There was some tie with him or his wife to my dad's job, so he knew us better than most dentists know their patients.

You will definitely want to double check chemical sensitivity stuff with the office. It's been more than 10 years since I've been in there, so I'm not sure what the place is like.

It was kind of sad. The other day, D and I walked into a all-natural European wood-and-cloth toy store, and they were cleaning the place with 409. I looked at that and thought "Wow, you are really missing the point there."

Pleasant Hill, Dentists
Goble Jay DDS
1894 Contra Costa Blvd, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523 Map +1 925.692.2010

I went to this guy for 3 years and he practices sleep dentistry and other things to help with people who have issues with dentists. The staff is really helpful and should be able to assist you with your needs.

Thanks for the suggestion. :) I'm sure he's a great dentist -- but his office failed the sniff test after five seconds. :/ Too swanky for me, with very new carpet and upholstery. I may pass on the recommendation to others, but he won't be my dentist.

The dentist I love is up in Sacramento, sorry :(

I'm still trying to decide if I should commute up there for him or find one down here.
