I've been trying since 9:30 to register for classes via the community college's online registration system. And since 9:30, I have derived some small amusement from watching the server have a complete and total nervous breakdown.

I don't know how many people have today as their priority registration date, but one would presume it wouldn't be too many for the system to handle at once. That would, of course, be assuming a lot... Webadvisor crashes fairly often during non-peak days, and yesterday it found three ways to trip over its own feet, once giving me a page and a half of java tracebacks. So it's none too stable at the best of times. (Running Windows Server 2003 and IIS 6, I'm not too shocked by this.)

Still, clicking a link -- any link -- and receiving a blank page without even any source is amusing. Can it get up this time? whump Guess not.

At least if I can't log in, it's pretty safe to assume that nobody else can either, so it's not like my class slots are evaporating... at least not rapidly. I'd use the phone system, but I'm pretty sure that feeds into the Webadvisor system now too. So I'll wait, and if necessary I'll trek over to register in person.

Oh, and if anyone owns any Datatel stock, dump it. They're the ones behind this total failure of a modernization strategy.
