So that's why my throat is still sore, despite the fact that I haven't felt sick for days. Sigh.

Time to upgrade the filter cartridge... apparently a type 3 isn't good enough. Here's hoping that a type 4, bells-and-whistles cartridge is thorough enough to give me drinkable water. Otherwise I guess we'll have to start looking at RO systems, which I've hesitated to do because of maintenance hassles (not to mention expense).

It's times like these that I get reminded of the little minefield I navigate every day... I'm so used to it that I barely see it most of the time.

I seem to recall that you just replaced the filter last month. Is the new one a different brand/rating? Or has your tolerance decreased?

We replaced the entire unit, which means that it takes different cartridges. Given the (lack of) info available as to what the pore spaces and other specifics of these cartridges are, I took a guess as to which one I would need. Turns out I need something a little better than what I got.

First thing is to replace the (current) level 3 cartridge with a level 4 cartridge. That had damn well better work, since if it doesn't, then we'd have to replace the whole thing with something much more expensive, and it's only two weeks old.
