Not moving too swiftly today.

Yesterday I did get a few things done to get the house into a semblance of order... then I abruptly hit the wall and went down for about an hour and a half. I had gotten woken up by Nick's alarm a little too early that morning, so I was short on sleep, and I'm still not recovered from school yet; not entirely unexpected, but a little frustrating. I could have used that time.

The evening had a visit from [livejournal.com profile] eastbaygreg, by which time I was largely recovered. There was some unscheduled excitement when we all heard an odd *pfunk* sound, and I ran into the kitchen to hear full-bore running water under the sink... the water filter is no more. Due to stress and age, the entire bottom of the prefilter housing had shattered spontaneously. I immediately shut off the valve, then started to pull things together to bypass the filter when I discovered that Greg had beaten me to the spot under the sink. I supplied him with a wrench and otherwise stayed out of his way, with only a mild comment that I don't usually expect guests to act as impromptu plumbers. He didn't seem to mind.

I probably stayed up later than I ought to have after that, but I don't have any regrets. There are a few more things I should tend to around here to make room for the mob that's due tomorrow... but for right now I'm downloading VMWare (finally) to see whether it'll let me play these DRMed CSI box sets, which will only play under Windoze. My dad is muttering about taking me out to Home Despot to replace the filter, and depending on how well that goes, I might not have to make a detour for five gallons of spring water to brew with tomorrow. We'll see.
