Gone over my notes. Again.

I think I'm ready to grab this tiger by the horns.

After all the fuss, I wouldn't say the bio exam was a letdown, but it was a little bit anticlimactic.

He threw a couple of curve balls, which I think I managed to dodge for the most part. The rest was pretty standard. It did have Jerry written all over it -- missing questions 14 and 22 (the latter was on the scantron portion, and I'm sure it tripped someone up)... Section A in the written part had seven topics, and the instructions said clearly, "Choose any four topics to explain in detail [...] Answer only three. (5 points X 3 = 15 points)". Kathy looked at that, sighed, told us to answer four just in case, then recanted and set it to three. I had already done four, so Jerry gets to decide which of those he wants.

Most of the multiple choice questions I knew right off, which tells me I knew the rest of the material well enough to garner an objective B. Based on what I've seen now, Jerry will probably curve -- if not now, then for the final score... and that should make this an A. I think. *shrug* I did better than a C, which is all I care about.

Most of all, it's over. I messed with pea sprouts with the rest of my group, drove back to Concord, hit the farmer's market for oranges and artichokes, then treated myself to a bag of fresh hot fries from the Hotdog Palace (think In&Out style). It was a lovely morning, with just enough haze to make the day star bearable without making it less warm, and I had my car back so I could get grease on the gearshift while munching my way home. :)

Now to relax with a bit of chem (ha) and contemplate how I'm spending the rest of the week.

1. What time did you get up this morning? 0630 (ugh)
2. Diamonds or pearls? hrm. Not really fond of either... but pearls will do.
3. What is your favorite TV show? Good Eats. Not that I ever get the chance to watch it.
4. What is your middle name? Leslie
5. Favorite cuisine? Thai
6. What foods do you dislike? Nutmeg. And onions.
7. What is your favorite flavor of ice cream? Coldstone? Apple Pie. Store-bought? That has to be a toss-up between butter pecan (the salty kind!) and coffee. Though it tends to be whatever flavor I feel like at that second. Just make it fluffy, dammit!
8. What is your favorite CD at the moment? Hard to say, no love affairs at this second... but I've been appreciating again Tool's "Lateralus".
9. What kind of car do you drive? '94 Honda Accord, manual.
10. Favorite sandwich? hum. I really really miss Togo's ham and cheese, with everything on it but onions.
11. What characteristic do you despise? Willful ignorance.
12. Favorite item of clothing? I like my coat... um...
13. If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would you go? Australia, probably south of Sydney -- or maybe NZ, haven't looked at it seriously yet.
14. Favorite brand of clothing? Brand? What's that?
15. Where would you retire to? If not the Bay Area, probably Olympia, WA.
16. Favorite time of the day? Evening
17. What was your most memorable birthday? "Most memorable" is a very bad memory. Let's try "best"... and that would be the picnic I had with friends, a year and a half ago. That was wonderful.
18. Where were you born? Concord, CA (yes, a true native!). I even grew up in this house.
19. Favorite sport to watch? Luge.
20. What fabric detergent do you use? Trader Joe's "Next to Godliness"
21. When is your birthday? August 22nd
22. Are you a morning person or a night person? Night
23. What is your shoe size? Mens' 8 Wide
24. What did you want to be when you were little? I don't think I thought about it much. Maybe an artist of some kind.
25. What are you doing tomorrow? Going to bio lecture, chem lecture and lab, then probably going on a date with [livejournal.com profile] emmett_the_sane.

...you started it.

For those unfamiliar with the topic at hand, [livejournal.com profile] emmett_the_sane posted a poll, regarding when it is morally acceptable to practice gender discrimination. I tried to take the poll, then started qualifying my answers, and finally gave up and started writing my views on each case. The result was far too long to post as a comment... but that's what I have my own LJ for. Read more... )

Dammit

Pesticide poisoning is not conducive to doing chemistry homework.

I'm going to have to pull Mitch aside tomorrow and plead for an extension on the labs and homework due tomorrow... I've been waiting all day for my system to work through the exposure, and it just isn't happening. One of these labs was due _last_ week, and I still haven't gotten any time to do it. Too sick to do it now.

Life has been insane. Please make it behave. Thanks. --A
