torquillTwo weeks of classes before finals. yow.
People keep saying "Isn't it so fast?" I don't feel rushed at all, actually; this is the pace I'm used to from science classes. Maybe if I had gone to a different community college, or come straight out of high school where I idled through most days... but this feels like a normal pace. It's just shorter. When I'm ready to be done, it's ready to be done... suits me just fine.
I think I'll take the train to my 8am finals. It'll get me up here by about 7:20 if we leave by 6:30, and that doesn't seem too unreasonable. I should probably give in and get another 10-ride in that case, so that I can come up for study sessions and such.
For the random file... The people next to me at lunch were talking about the growing segregation in our culture -- by age. As more people, even healthy ones, seek out "retirement communities" and older-focused housing developments, there is less and less contact between the generations, particularly the very young and the very old. There are still visits to grandparents, but there is less casual interaction in public. It's an interesting phenomenon, and it brings up the question of what to do about it, if anything.
I like dabbling in sociology; cultural trends interest me. I don't think I would have cut it as a Community Studies major at Santa Cruz, but I did consider it briefly.
