Hey, SF East Bay locals: I'm planning an art installation at Burning Man. It would require Amazon boxes... lots and lots of Amazon boxes, preferably of various sizes. Collapsed but intact is OK, as they'll be flattened for transport. Can you help?

Also required: wired computer mouses, of any interface type. If they are not already dead, they will be by the time I'm done, so make sure you aren't giving away something you care about. (Ha.) I'll talk to electronics recyclers and Urban Ore for those as well.

If you're of the crafty sort, and can think of a cheap way to create a large, lightable sign that looks like a yellow PayPal/Amazon One-Click button, please let me know... I'm brainstorming on that one. It must stand up to W I N D Y conditions.

Does it have to be lit from the inside, or can it be lit from the outside by bouncing a light off something such as bright-yellow-painted plywood?

If it can be lit from the outside, then painted plywood with a base that can be loaded with water jugs/sand bags, perhaps?

I have a nice large Amazon box, and I can ask at my workplace if people could dump theirs off at my cube. I work in Palo Alto, and I'm going to be across the Bay on Friday or Saturday, depending on where you'd like me to drop stuff off?

I'd prefer lit from the inside... I can use a variety of materials for lit-from-outside, but at night, a yellow glowing Thingie would attract more attention than a piece of plywood with a spotlight on it. :)

If you can collect boxes from co-workers, that would be truly awesome... I'm actually located in Concord, but I'd be willing to meet you further east if you're going somewhere we could easily meet up. Otherwise, I can hang out at a landmark (BART station, cafe, whatever) until you come by.

we often have a collection of amazon boxes, but they are often left outside, so their condition is highly dependent upon what time of year.
