This is as much for my own reference as anything else -- I don't want to lose track of such a useful page. It's a very good synopsis of metabolic alkalosis, including causes, tests, and treatments. I've been hunting for something like this for a long time.

I need to hand this to my doctor sometime soon, and ask whether we can do some tests. I'd love to find something that helps; getting my heart rate down and respiration up would be good, even if I never get to the point where I can do strenuous aerobic exercise. It looks like treatments might be fairly simple, even though the arterial/venous gas tests used for diagnosis are expensive and difficult to perform.

Heh. It's all one molecule, just bent -- it was the best shot I could get of ascorbic acid. I should probably try to make a better icon one of these days, now that I have the hang of some of the nifty tools out there.

Believe me, ascorbic acid can open a can, but it's the good kind...
