torquillI have gone from a rapidly decaying orbit to one that will be stable for two-three months. I can live with that. Still in a holding pattern, but not one I have to fight to maintain.
It was perhaps the best outcome for the moment. I'm still not settled -- that would mean I was either on the ground or zinging out of the gravity well never to be seen again -- but even the best-case scenario would have had me trying to handle finals week in a haze of sparks from controlled reentry. Distracting.
Now that I'm no longer in imminent danger of turning into a tumbling fireball and burning up in the atmosphere, maybe I can concentrate on other things for the time being.
Like beating metaphors to bloody pulps.
