Look at your LJ "interests" list. If you have fewer than 50 interests, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five interests, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much.

Every fifth one, huh? I used to play this game with my chem teacher -- he told me to do every third problem, but not which set with that interval... :)

books - Well, duh. I've read since I was small. I've read books I can no longer recall I even had in my hands. I read books at 10 that I probably shouldn't have, since my parents gave me the run of their shelves (Anne McCaffrey's softcore porn comes to mind). I don't read as much as I used to -- no more of the "three current books at once" habit -- but I still read regularly.

doctor who - I grew up on it. Channel 54 used to show it at dinnertime, and I had nightmares from watching "Inferno" when I was twelve and impressionable. I've seen every episode, for better or worse, save for possibly a couple of the recovered Lost Episodes. I'm looking forward to watching the new ones.

homemade thai food - I haven't made any in a long time, but I love Thai curry so much I used to make it at home. I keep thinking that if I get a little time, I'll make some more chili paste... after all, I bought a kaffir lime tree just so that I would have fresh leaves to add to the curry. No substitute. :) I also bought black sweet rice so that I could make black sweet rice in coconut milk, one of my big comfort foods. Just... keep the fish sauce over there, okay?

mike jittlov - I used to read alt.fan.mike-jittlov -- most of it was people discussing when the official DVD of the Wizard of Speed and Time would be out, and swapping authorized bootlegs. But I still remember when Mike came on and gave us a long rundown of what was happening in his life right then, mostly about the DVD progress but other stuff too. The man is a special-effects wizard, but he's also a genuinely nice guy who's been going through some rough times of late. I respect him as well as his skill.

polyamory - I came out in January, and I think my life is better for it, in all sorts of ways. It's definitely not for everyone, and there are those who are wired monogamous as much as I'm wired poly, beyond those who are free to just choose. But it's worked out for me so far, and for a lot of my friends. I'm still sort of learning the ropes, though, and easing into the various communities.

sf/fantasy - See "books", above. I tend more toward the fantasy end of things, but I am absolutely not averse to good scifi. I'm a big Bab5 fan, I liked Niven's "Known Space" stories, and I enjoy a good lecture on the physics of warp engines. :) That doesn't change the fact that my favorite authors are Barbara Hambly and C.S. Friedman.

veggie gardening - Plants are part of my soul, I think. When I'm not involved in a garden at a given point, I think, "yeah, it's nice stuff, but whatever." Then my dad gives me the Seminis book on tomato diseases, and I spend almost a half-hour paging through the thin book and making comments like "that's a really clear picture of buckeye rot" and "oooh, they even list Gray Wall!" I garden like breathing. Planning, buying seeds, transplanting, cultivating, digging... and for some reason, my real passion is with edibles, particularly annual edibles. From sunflowers to tomatoes to corn to cucumbers, it's hard for me not to get drawn into varieties and methods and flavors. At least, as gardening hobbies go, it's cheap, land-efficient, non-permanent, and produces useful things. There are worse passions to have.
