Nice, warm, sweet water.

I paid my fees today, so I'm officially set. I also bought books; I had to buy the OChem set, but I still have enough pages in my old lab notebook to serve again, and I don't need the model kit. I bought the Bio lab manual, and discovered that -- for a wonder -- the book my Bio teacher wants is one I already have. That saves $130 right there... and I already know my way around Campbell. Bonus.

I also got the ASDVC sticker for the first time, and used it to save something like a whopping $13 on my $200+ in textbooks. Ah, well, it paid for itself and it has other uses.

I haven't bought a parking pass yet. I'd be able to find parking for Bio (though OChem is a morning class and the lots are packed), but I'm going to see whether I can walk from the Branstads' every day. It's a 10-15 minute walk each way, and it seems like a good way to get my exercise in.

My bio teacher is cute. He's also married and has a five-year-old, but who wants to let reality spoil a good thing?

He also wants to know an incredible amount about us, and is otherwise hyper-aware of ways he can help us out. Of course, he's helping himself out too -- he took photos of each of us so that he could memorize names faster -- but he snowed us with handouts today. Not just the syllabus and rules, but project outlines, study guides for this class, schedules, tips, examples... he told us to email him night or day and he'd get back to us with detailed responses within hours; this seems to be his main means of communication since he lives in Davis(!), but he does keep up on it. He even made a class website. If you want, you can have a look; I know, he's no web designer (animated gifs! *cringe*) but just look at the sheer quantity of material there. All the handouts, tutorials, advice from former students, summaries of class sessions... He updates it after each class session, and then sends more info out to an opt-in email list on Friday. Yeesh.

He asked for an essay containing our goals, what we want from him, what problems we can foresee, etc. I mentioned that compared to other semesters, this one would be "smooth"; I did not write what I was thinking, which was "cakewalk". My definition of cakewalk is a little different from most people's, true, but I think that if I struggle in this class, it will definitely not be for lack of teacher support.

Two good teachers, a decent if eclectic schedule, and what looks to be a manageable amount of homework. I wonder what's going to go wrong, if it isn't any of those things. :)

What I assume was supposed to be a link is missing or broken or something, FYI..
