torquillI just spent a bit of time bagging and sorting the last six weeks or so of comic books. All I have to say is: wow those things build up quickly. (We need another short box already.)
So that's done, and I'm finished with all this week's comics, including Superman vs. Captain Marvel. I'm gonna have to look further into the Captain; he seems more and more interesting all the time, and this latest thing makes Billy look about 13 years old, as opposed to the 8 I've seen before. That makes it more sensible that he would be such a clever kid.
There were some good ones this week, particularly The Authority. That title is going through a huge shakeup, and I'm less and less sure where it's going, but I like the ride.
Ex Machina is stroking me in all the right ways, too. Damn, that comic is a good read. Edgy, current, and witty.
Looks like Superman/Batman is finally ditching SuperBimbo, as she's supposed to get a title of her own now. It won't be the first Supergirl title, but hopefully it'll be around long enough to keep her out of my hair for a while. She was never that annoying in the main Superman title, at least so much of it as I saw from The Crisis etc... but S/B seems to have made her insipid, with Supes himself mooning after her like some clueless bumbling Mr. Mom type. Sigh.
Secret War is good enough, but all the spinoffs (like the current story in The Pulse) seem to be falling flat. Maybe it's the fact that I can't seem to get a lot of empathy for Jessica Jones... or maybe it's the feeling that I keep flipping pages and nothing's happening. Dunno. I'd like to see a lot more of Ben Urich in that title, and a lot less of the "oh my god I'm having Luke Cage's baby".
It thought there was another issue of Green Lantern: Rebirth, but it was just a reissue of #2 with a different cover. Bah. I hate it when they do that, particularly when they're on #5 at the time. It looks different.... but it's not!
I should go to bed -- I've been short on sleep lately, and my alarm goes off at 7:30 again tomorrow. It'll be the first plant clinic I've made in ages, though, and I really want to go... it should let me get home in time to eat and pull together, then I have a party on the Peninsula at 3. Lots of driving, but at least I got a tank of gas today.
