A taste of color
Nov. 29th, 2011 16:19For someone who has just rediscovered the color and texture of the world around us, this has been an absolutely breathtaking autumn. Even on overcast days, some of the trees blaze with colors so intense it's like a shout. The crape myrtles, sumacs, and Japanese maples have been the most vibrant that I've seen, but the pure golden ginkgos aren't far behind, and even the mulberries have gotten into the game with their bright yellows. My nectarine leaves turned an unusual yellow-orange this year before dropping.
We don't often have this prolonged streak of cold temperatures without rain or frost in the fall, but boy, I've been enjoying the result.
