My tongue still hurts -- I have trouble with gutturals such as K and hard G, but I can otherwise talk, softly. My throat feels much better; I've gone to school before when it's this bad, and I have the bonus this time of not having an accompanying fever. I expect things will be better still once I have a little tylenol.
When I woke up at 7 and discovered that it was in the high 70s outside, I decided I did not want to spend the day in Concord. I still don't have the AC unit installed in my room, you see, and none of the rest of the house has much cooling ability either (and precious little insulation)... heading into a day of 102° without the house having cooled off overnight is not my idea of a pleasant day.
Two alternatives, then: spend the day at the movie theater (there are two movies I want to see; that might kill about 5 hours) or at the beach (we can stay out there until the fog rolls in, as the weather is supposed to break tonight). I'd rather not have to come home in the afternoon to a baked house, so we're doing the beach. Which one, I'm not sure -- Baker has its appeal, but SF may be so crowded we'll want to go up into Marin. We'll see.
We're tentatively going to catch a matinee tomorrow before Greg's son comes over in the afternoon -- I want to catch Indiana Jones before it's out of the theaters.
