torquillIt's actually somewhat reassuring to know that I can still take minor painkillers and decongestants without dire consequences. Prescription drugs are always such a mixed bag that I'd gotten wary of bad side-effects with their little siblings too. So far, nothing untoward.
Less reassuring is the fact that I'm still in a lot of pain, as my sinuses try to bust out of my skull while my neck continues to complain of spontaneous whiplash, and the two of those are giving me sharp pains in my jaw and ears. I'm planting the blame for all this on my first cervical vertebra (yes, it can do in my sinuses like this), but Dr. J has nothing until tomorrow at noon. Thus, I hit the medicine cabinet.
Two weekends in a row being too sick to do homework -- I'll never catch up on my reading for History class now.
Edit: bless the person who just cancelled an appointment... Dr. J can see me today. Cross your fingers.
Edit:All hail the miracle worker. With various comments like "your palate's in Tijuana" and "your face feels like it's been stepped on", Dr. J took about 15 minutes to coax my head bones into moving as they should. That was after he cracked what felt like every vertebra in my neck. Twice.
I'm still stuffy, but the pain is gone, and my ears are crackling occasionally -- much better than I'd been getting earlier. I expect they'll drain soonish. Since he did all the heavy lifting, things are moving enough that I can do some fine-tuning work here at home to keep things on the right track. My neck muscles are badly strained and will stay sore for a while, but that's bearable.
Now all I have to cope with is a tonsillitis flare-up. *triple sigh*
If this is what a comprehensive cascading health failure looks like for me these days, I'm impressed at how functional it's left me. I'm pissed as hell that it laid me up as much as it did, but I'm still impressed.
