I took the back way up today; the only notable part was that I happened to catch sight of a couple of birds on the side of the road, having a brief tussle. They were either the biggest damn hawks I've ever seen, or it was two golden eagles. They were big, like peacock-sized, and golden-brown. That was east of Fairfield somewhere.
I also saw a grey-and-white bird in flight, close up, that looked like most of the pictures I've seen of falcons, but I have no idea whether we have them in that part of the Valley. Possibly.
I used the meters while I was on campus, took my final, walked to the ARC (man, I hardly ever appreciate how much easier it is to ride a bicycle rather than walk), got my books from my locker, and went to sell two biochem textbooks at a sidewalk booth. I got lucky -- the earlier one was still current -- and it brought the total windfall from book sales this quarter to $183, between yesterday and today. I'm running at about a 50% buyback price, which is damned good.
They gave me four $2 bills in the process. cool. And a couple of fifties, which (being broke) I rarely see.
I took five minutes to pile the project bike into the trunk, and went home. I decided to overshoot and stop at Chipotle in Pleasant Hill, a decision I was glad of when I drove by the two Concord exits on 680 and saw Contra Costa Boulevard backed up into the exit lanes. As in, part of the freeway was stopped. Let's avoid the Sunvalley/K-mart/Target trinity for the rest of the season, mmm?
So I'm home, I've had a modest lunch, and I'm thinking about making popcorn. Or cookies. I still have the GRE coming up, but not until Tuesday; otherwise I'm free for a bit. It's still sinking in.
Classes begin January 7th... but that's next year.
