Geek Festival!
May. 19th, 2007 19:33Maker Faire was good. I wasn't able to enjoy it as much as I wished, but I'm looking forward to next year.
The highest-profile people we saw (to my knowledge) were Eepybird, who did a full Diet Coke and Mentos sequence for us. We did also talk briefly with the guy who started BoingBoing, but that's not quite fame.
Gotta visit the Computer History Museum this fall to check out the complete Difference Engine they'll be hosting. The little one made out of Erector set bits was cool.
Too tired to list all the neat things, and I know other people will have actual pictures. Lots of bicycle bits in various configurations, large bursts of flame, electricity, gasification, power tool drag racing, rockets, a large scale Mousetrap game, motorized cupcakes, Nixie tube clocks, and plenty of robots. Very cool.
There was more open-air content than I expected, and I got a bit burnt. Ah, well.
