I spent 20 minutes of my lunch break wrestling my seat off my current bike (it isn't a quick-release, and it takes a 13mm nut which I have to use the vise-grips for). Because nothing in my life is that simple, I then discovered that the seatpost is far too small for the purple bike. Sigh. Looks like I won't be riding the purple one until its seat gets its new cover.

I've been trying to put a luggage rack on the purple one, as well, and (because life is not simple) the Bike Church has a plethora of racks, but no mounting brackets to put them on with. I'm gonna have to talk to Jason about that. In the meantime, I'll probably put the one I'm using on the purple bike, and buy a new one for the Spirit, as I suspect it's more versatile about what racks would work. Racks don't cost that much, at least, though it would have been nice to get a $3 one from the Church.

Two of the bike shops out here were closed in the middle of the day on a Thursday. Life, simple, yeah. At least Ken's had a good selection and helpful staff, even if I did have to cross 5th to get there. I may use them as my bike shop up here for anything that isn't quick/common enough for Freewheeler. I'll ask Encina about prices too, when I get home.

I kind of want to get that purple thing on the road; I think I'd like it a lot better.

Sometimes I wish I could ride a bike.
I know how but the way I'm built causes intolerable pressure on my pubic bone within a block or two.

I've found that my sheer mass makes my choice in bike seats absolutely critical. I have a pretty good one currently -- wide with very thick gel padding -- and I can still barely walk after a half-mile unless I'm doing it a couple times a week. The new seat seems okay too, especially as it's sprung and thus gives a bit. I still have to stand up on rough pavement or else I get hideous bruises.

I can understand the pubic bone bit, though... my hip joint has hassled me about biking sometimes if it isn't set right.
