I almost missed the train today. I was puttering in my car when I heard the bell approaching, and it was at the platform by the time I locked the doors and snatched up my stuff. Even with running to the platform, I heard the doors do their warning closing sound just as I dashed up -- the doors had been open for about forty-five seconds in all. I ran full-tilt through the doors as they started to close, and realized that the conductor must have seen me as they opened fully again. I grinned at the whistle of appreciation from the stewardess on the platform. Another one commented on it as she checked my ticket.

I bought a banana today to supplement my hasty and meager breakfast. The CoHo gets them green enough that I can eat one without tasting isoamyl acetate as soon as I bite into it. I always liked the green ones better anyway...

I stopped by the Bike Church today. I am getting more and more determined to get involved there, as this is the second time I've gotten there and found no minister. At least this time the toolshed was unlocked... but there weren't any Torx screwdrivers in evidence. Sigh. I finally resorted to pulling the old cupholder straight off my bike in a fit of frustration, and discovered that the Torx screws were then loose enough to unfasten with my fingers. I replaced them with phillips/flathead screws from the screw bins and installed my new, metal, not-broken cupholder. Yay!

I got to lab and discovered that I was supposed to have done a resume to hand in. Whoops. I made one during the few moments of slack time in lab (we were looking at Excel features) and mailed it to the TA at the end of the lab period. It's amazing how well-behaved Word is when we do the stuff in the homework -- mail merges and style settings and macros -- and when I try to actually use it for a real-world project, it goes back to sucking. I got some truly bizarre behavior out of it before shrugging and sending the document out.

I'm looking for vinyl fabric to cover the second bike seat; I struck out at several fabric and craft stores, so I'll try an upholstery store next. The good news is that Best Buy had the stereo kit I needed, so now I can actually put my stereo into the car once I have time. So that's one errand done. Now I just get to look for something like a leopard-print vinyl -- even sparkly silver would go with the purple bike. Hmmm...

We lost one of the jacaranda trees to the frost. I need to remember to order another one.
