torquill: Doctor Wilson, thoughtful (wilson)
There is, so far as I can determine, no Chinese herbalist in all of Davis.

There are a few scattered around the East Bay, generally in Asian strip malls and such. But if I want Chinese herbs up here, I have to go to Sac, which isn't exactly feasible on a bike while running errands between classes.

The reason this came up is that apparently I haven't been careful enough when using the computer labs (or something)... I got woken up at 5 this morning by the sensation that someone had stabbed me in the throat. There's only one thing that does that, and it is not what I want to have just before a busy and (hopefully) fun weekend.

As a result of my unusual morning, however, I forgot my phone. I also forgot to grab any Yin Chiao, which is kind of useful when fighting off various pathogenic microbes. That's okay, I figured, I'll buy some in Davis.

It turns out that there is an herb shop that sells an American brand... for $30 a bottle. (I'm used to $5.) The Co-op sells two brands, for about $15 apiece, and one of them looked a little more promising. I bought it and added it to my arsenal.

If things had progressed as usual, I'd be running a fever and have severe trouble swallowing by now. As it is, I have a slightly scratchy throat, and otherwise I feel fine. I'm going to call that a win. If I can keep it at bay for a day or so -- and I'm not even contagious, at an educated guess -- my body should be able to catch up with it and nuke it. *crossed fingers*

[livejournal.com profile] knaveofhearts, we're still on for tonight, as I'm currently not a danger to myself or others. I'll try to lily you before I catch the train home.
