A month or two ago I also did all 4 tires. Car was handling poorly and a bit noisy. I _had looked_ at the tires, but at that time I looked, apparently the damaged area must have been just at the very bottom most out of sight. So all I saw was fairly worn tires, no 'omg' tires :(
I drove over to the tire place assuming it was bad balance, alignment, or a worn tire anyway, some days later. Tire was not flat, but about to fall apart/explode. I decided not to run any errands while waiting for my turn, but to just chill in the waiting room for a few hours.
