There's nothing wrong with my tire... as far as I can tell, the first tube got a leak simply because it had been sitting, rolled up, for who knows how many years before I used it. One of the spots on the fold was dried out and cracked, and after a week or two of riding, it got a hole. I patched the bad spot, checked the rest of it for cracks, and it's sitting in my locker as a spare again (but not rolled so tightly anymore). So I don't need a new tire. (I did take the whole thing apart and shake out the last few remaining bits of gravel, though.)

Now all I have to deal with is the fact that my back brake cable slipped, and now they don't work. Sigh.

Oh yeah, and the fact that I had to cram nine chapters of plant prop in three hours last night. I had no idea he expected us to know that much sheer vocabulary, or I would have tried to start earlier -- though I'm not sure when I could have fit it in. It's just been that kind of week. I think I'll do okay, but I don't know how much of that stuff I'll retain. (If I can remember the word apomixis, I'll be happier.)

It's nice to just sit for a few minutes. I realized last night that the SSE Listing sheet was still on my desk, and they want to get it by the 3rd. I didn't list all the seed varieties I wanted to -- I'll have to really make an effort to increase my seed stocks on Woman's Name Starting With A, as it's a great tomato to offer -- but I got the two essential ones in, the rare ones. My mom, bless her heart, went and dropped the letter off at the Concord Central PO, where she said it should be sorted and hit Oakland by midnight. It might reach Iowa by Friday, more likely Saturday though. I'm hoping the deadline for the Yearbook isn't too draconian.

It turns out that tomorrow is the field trip to Yuba City. On the one hand, it isn't the 10th, when I have evening plans... on the other, it's a bunch of walking at the end of a long week, and I have to cram in a trip to the greenhouses to check on things between lab and biochem today. I did check my calendar to make sure that I don't have any other surprises, and it's clear until week after next. I might actually be able to get out of crisis mode.

It was raining last night. There's an 80% chance of showers around 10 this morning. I have a sweatshirt with hood, but my raincoat (which I had to get in "sand", as all other colors are on backorder until next year) is currently in the mail. I also haven't had any chance to make chaps. Pray I don't get soaked...
