I apologize for not believing you.

Today, in biochem, we covered the Brave and Exciting World of Water Chemistry. Specifically, all of the (minutely detailed) equations leading up to... the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation.

Now, what baffles me is not the question of why on earth I was afraid of this class... what baffles me is the fact that the teacher essentially dismissed from the course the one student who had not yet taken organic chemistry -- and yet the teenyboppers in front of me were complaining that "she's going so fast! She's like, you should already know this."

How. On. Earth. Do you get through organic chemistry without learning about the disassociation of water, pH, pKa, and acid/base equilibria? Hell, how do you get into OChem without having learned about them? We covered them in both Intro Chem and Genchem (at length), then reviewed them in OChem for good measure. Did these girls just walk in off the street and decide to take this course?

I'm almost sleeping through material that I spent about four cumulative months on in the last three years. Then I get to go over what we learned in cell bio a year ago.

Yawn.
