A side note
Apr. 9th, 2006 17:50The quiz I bombed a week ago Friday? Yeah, I got it back. 74%.
That doesn't impact my quiz average much, if at all.
I apparently did better than I thought -- that, and she had accidentally thrown in a question from the next chapter, which explained some of the "WTF am I looking at??" reaction.
In any other class, I'd be really distressed by average scores in the mid-70's. In ochem, that just puts me in the mid-B range, and still in about the 80th percentile of the class. Life really is different here...

Class average: 59

The average for the first test was 61.
I wish there was a way to explain to non-science people the qualitative difference between a C in Music Appreciation and a C in a non-poet science class.

Is it that much different from taking physics @ UPS?

I don't remember. I just took a peek at my transcript, and I didn't get an A in any physics course (I got a B+ in second semester GenPhys). I remember slaving over labs, but I don't remember how well I did on them -- pretty well, I think -- and I don't remember the tests at all. Hell, I don't remember doing homework or studying.
Hard to say. My memory is very poor, so it could have been about the same. I think OChem is particularly different from the rest of the world, though.
A comment you might appreciate, from the potential new chem teacher we were watching this morning: "I think the entire goal of PChem is to fit everything in the universe into a y=mx+b format."
