Seriously: there is no brand marking on it anywhere. Safety ratings and a date on the bottom, "Audio/Video RF Modulator" on the front, no other text or defining characteristics. You mentioned cheap ones -- this one looks like it should have come in a plain yellow box with black writing on it.
I'm guessing it's Best Buy's own "brand". Avoid it if you can. Unless you like the contrast rising and falling like a seasick dimmer switch.
