I am also done. It hasn't really sunk in yet. No school for a month... I won't have to worry about Williamson ether synthesis for four weeks. It's odd.
I'm surprised I'm still alert, given the sleep-dep lately. I was actually able to tackle the final with more brain than I have for most of the exams, and I feel like I nailed down an A. Given that I didn't do what I should have on the final synthesis problem, I'm not sure how high an A, but I think all I needed was something above an 87 to get an A for the semester.
I keep telling myself that it doesn't matter that I should have jacked that alkane up to a triple bond with bromination and NH2, put on an alcohol group, let the enol make an aldehyde and used that in a Grignard to tack together the two pieces. It's done, it's over. (Though I still wonder how I would have taken off the resulting OH group... dehydration, then hydrogenation, perhaps?)
Maybe I'll relax by some time tonight.
Playing dress-up tomorrow morning, then going to a party in the evening, then there's dancing Saturday night. Then Dr. J gets to put me back together on Sunday. Whee!
