Not there with the caring
May. 10th, 2005 10:01The classic antidote to test anxiety: burnout.
One test down, four more to go. Turns out that due to logistical conflicts, the lab practical will be a week from Thursday, and the bio final itself will be the following Tuesday, in what was formerly known as finals week. That will be the last I see of LMC for a while.
I was driving home and noted a tow truck exiting behind me at the Willow Pass offramp. Okay. It didn't seem to want to pass me on Willow Pass, despite my usual habit of going 40 (in a 35). It turned onto Farm Bureau after me, heading for the outer reaches of Concord. Then turned onto my street. Hmm... quite a coincidence that someone would need a car towed to my street just as I'm getting home (he had a car on the back), but not unheard of.
It was when he turned into the driveway after me that I knew something was up. Check the car in back: tan, but not a Camry, so that means it's not my mom's car. I parked at the split in the driveway and got out to talk to the guy.... apparently he had been following a red car, and latched on to me on highway 4 instead.
There are a lot of red Accords out there... but you'd think the big red "NERV" decal on the back window would have tipped him off.
I told him he could follow the curve of the driveway around to get back to the street, and my dad and I watched as he carved a path across the lawn to get there. Sigh. I hope he finds the red car he was supposed to be following...
