I had tested the silk from my sari for colorfastness. It was safe to wash.

After a wash in cold water, I discovered that my tests were insufficiently strenuous. The white parts of my sari (the edges and tail end) are now light green. I'm running it again, for longer, with lots and lots of water.

I'm thinking that experiments with peroxide and a paintbrush may be in order. Any experience out there?

Edit: After a line-dry, the white edging looks okay -- it always was slightly off from white -- but the tail-end is definitely green. I can probably just dip that in some bleaching agent (I will try peroxide first), and leave the edges the way they are.

Definitely dry-clean from now on, especially if I can find a good "green" dry-cleaner.
