Whoof. Bushed.
Feb. 25th, 2006 17:15I got up before dawn, rousted the Weasel, and we went up to UC Davis' Reentry Day.* They wanted us there before 9 -- we just barely made it. (The directions were geared to those who had driven around Davis/campus before.)
It was productive. Reassuring, even. I've got a much better feel for things, and apparently they're even better at supporting student life -- all aspects of it -- than either UPS or UCSC. Got a problem? There's an office to help. Even if it has nothing to do with school, they seem to realize that everything affects academic performance, even down to roommate disputes and things like that. DVC, well, they seem to feel like when you're on campus, it's their business, and when you leave, you simply cease to exist for them. The academic bubble in the extreme.
As for Davis... friendly place. Quiet. I'd forgotten what universities are like on Saturday mornings, but UPS was like that too. Davis reminded me a little of UCSC in attitude and campus, but seems much less edgy.
We were both tired enough that we skipped the end, but that's okay. Now I need to recharge a little before I get dressed for Gaskells.
*Am I the only one who makes the unfortunate association of "reentry" with "burn up during"?
